ART IS ELEMENTAL PROJECT

   WE ARE CURRENTLY FUNDRAISING FOR THE ART IS ELEMENTAL PROJECT!

When students are given the opportunity to create art projects, poems, and skits about science, history, and math, they get the opportunity to connect with the subjects on a personal level. By allowing the students to take on authoritative role, they develop an intimate understanding of the academic subject, which contributes to self-esteem and higher test scores.

We plan to send teaching artists to under-funded elementary schools for 20 visits from August to May. Under the arist's guidance, the students will complete two major events. One of the events will be an education fair, where students will complete an academic art project that they will display for parents. The second will be a showcase, featuring a series of educational skits that the 5th graders will perform for younger students.

During their bi-monthly visits, the teaching artists will reinforce the class' acadmic goals, but will focus on creative, team-building, and confidence-boosting exercises.
