  What Is The Warrior Woman Inc.?

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing students and at-risk youth affordable artistic programming that engages them, provides them with the tools for creative expression, and supplements their academic curriculum.
 
We believe that exposure to Spoken Word, which is relevant and appealing to teens, will not only encourage them to learn more about poetry, but will provide them with a valuable tool for creative catharsis.

   What is Spoken Word / Performance / Slam Poetry?
 
Spoken word is a form of poetry that is written for the stage, rather than the page. It is crafted with performance in mind, and relies heavily on cadence, timing, and rhyme.

Infusing powerful messages with rhythm, pop culture, and humor, spoken word poetry is uniquely meaningful and modern. Our programs combine literary analysis with hip-hop poetry in workshops that will engage any student.
